Ingredients of Samosa With Dal
- 1 1/4 cup green moong dal
- 2 cup refined oil
- 8 tablespoon ghee
- 6 clove
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 6 peppercorns
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 4 green chilli
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 pinches asafoetida
- 4 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
How to make Samosa With Dal
Step 1
Wash and clean the green moong dal under running water. Add the dal in a bowl with enough water and soak it for 1 hour. Then carefully transfer the soaked dal in a grinder and make a paste using little amount of water.
Step 2
In a mixer jar add the green chilies followed by cloves, fennel seeds, peppercorns and ginger. Carefully grind them into a paste. Keep it aside until needed again.
Step 3
Take a deep bottomed pan and put it on medium flame. Add ghee in it followed by asafetida, and cumin seeds. Allow the seeds to cook for a minute or two. After that add the prepared pastes (see step 1 and 2) to the mixture. Mix and saute the mixture for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Cover the mixture with a lid and allow it to cook. Keep on sprinkling some water in the water again and again to prevent loss of moisture. Also add in chaat masala to the pan. Once done remove the pan from flame and allow it to cool down.
Step 5
When the mixture is cool enough to handle, divide it into equal balls. Using a strainer, gently sieve the wheat flour and add it into a bowl. Add ghee and water in the bowl. Knead the flour into a dough.
Step 6
Take small portions of this dough and flatten them into a roti shape. Once done add in the filling in the center and close the edges in a cone form.
Step 7
In a deep bottomed pan, heat refined oil on medium flame. Once the oil is hot enough to be used, add in the prepared samosa. Deep fry until golden brown in color. Transfer them into a tissue to absorb excess oil. Serve!
