Ingredients
- 1 Cup Rice Sona Masoori
- 3/4 Cup Yellow Moong Dal
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
Dry Spices for Seasoning:
- 1 Star Anise
- 2 Bay leaves
- 3 Cloves
- 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
- 2 to 3 Kapok Buds Marathi Moggu
Other Ingredients:
- 1 Medium Onion finely chopped
- 3 Green Chilies slit lengthwise
- 1 Large Tomato diced
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 2 Carrots diced
- 1 medium Potato diced
- 1/4 Cup Frozen Green Peas
- 1/4 Cup Frozen Beans
- Handful of Mint leaves
- Handful Fresh Coriander finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- Salt to taste
- 4 to 5 Cups Water
Instructions
- Combine Rice and Moong Dal and wash until water runs clear.
- Heat Oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat.
- Add the dry spices to the oil and sauté till you get a nice aroma.
- Immediately add in Onions and green chillies and sauté for 1 minute.
- Now add chopped tomatoes and ginger garlic paste.
- Sauté and cook for about 2 minutes.
- Add rest of the veggies, salt, turmeric powder and Red Chilli Powder, Rice-Dal mixture and mix well.
- Now add required water and adjust salt.
- Close the pressure cooker and cook for 1 whistle and turn off the heat.
- Open the lid once the pressure subsides from the cooker.
- Serve hot with any raita, Kadhi or Chaas.
