Tandoori Chicken Burgers

INGREDIENTS

For the Chicken Burgers

  • 2 lbs organic ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Tandoori masala
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon powdered cumin
  • ½ teaspoon powdered coriander
  • ¼ cup cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon crushed ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic crushed
  • salt to taste

For the Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup whole milk plain yogurt
  • ½ lime
  • ½ teaspoon powdered cumin roasted
  • 1 Serrano or Thai Gren Chillies minced
  • salt to taste

To Assemble

  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cucumber sliced
  • ½ red onion sliced
  • 1 tomato sliced

INSTRUCTIONS 

For the Burger Patties

  1. Mix the ground chicken with all the other ingredients and set aside for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Divide into 4 equal portions and form patties about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  3. Fire up the grill and grill the chicken burger patties on medium high heat for about 5-6 minutes on each side till cooked all the way through. Use a meat thermometer to check – it should be 165F inside the center of the burger patty.

For the Buns

  • Pat some butter on each of the burger bun slices and grill them till they are crispy.

For the yogurt sauce

  • Mix all the ingredients well together.

To Assemble

  1. Spread some yogurt sauce on the bottom half of the bun. Place the chicken burger patty on top of it. Spread some more sauce.
  2. Top with onion, cucumber and tomato slices.
  3. Top with the top half of the burger bun and enjoy right away!
