Crock Pot Teriyaki Steak Bites

Ingredients

  • 3 lb. sirloin steak
  • 2 Tbsp. corn starch + 1/4 cup cold water

Sauce:

  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp. ginger, fresh, minced
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • garnish ideas: green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Set the steak out at least 30 minutes before cutting into pieces.
  2. In a liquid measuring cup, whisk together all ingredients for the sauce and set aside.
  3. Then, cut the sirloin into bite sized pieces. Place sirloin pieces in the bottom of a crock pot followed by the sauce all over the top.
  4. Cover with the lid and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours. Stir every hour or so.
  5. The sauce will be thin. If you like it that way, perfect! If you’d like to thicken it (which I recommend), carefully pour the sauce through a fine mesh sieve and then pour the strained sauce in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Mix the cornstarch and water together and whisk it into the sauce until it thickens. Taste and adjust sauce as needed.
  6. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy as is or serve with rice and your veggie of choice! I like broccoli, asparagus or a green salad.
