{"id":1496,"date":"2023-08-13T15:52:57","date_gmt":"2023-08-13T15:52:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/?p=1496"},"modified":"2023-08-13T15:52:58","modified_gmt":"2023-08-13T15:52:58","slug":"instant-pot-dal-tadka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/13\/instant-pot-dal-tadka\/15\/52\/1496\/57\/appdev2098\/countries-dinner-ideas\/indian-dinner\/","title":{"rendered":"Instant Pot Dal Tadka"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dal Tadka is an easy one-pot pressure cooker recipe prepared with split pigeon peas lentils, assorted spices and cooked with pot-in-pot rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\u00a0cup\u00a0split toor dal(split pigeon peas)\u00a0rinsed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0ghee\u00a0Or coconut oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0cumin seeds(jeera)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;tablespoon&nbsp;ginger garlic&nbsp;minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2&nbsp;green chillies&nbsp;finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0asafetida (hing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;medium&nbsp;onion&nbsp;finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;large&nbsp;tomato&nbsp;finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0turmeric powder (haldi)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0red chili powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0garam masala powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>salt\u00a0to taste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3&nbsp;cups&nbsp;water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2&nbsp;tablespoon&nbsp;cilantro (coriander leaves)&nbsp;chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For Tadka\/Tempering&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0ghee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0cumin seeds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>few&nbsp;curry leaves&nbsp;(optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>big\u00a0pinch\u00a0asafetida(hing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0red chili powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0dry red chilies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Instant Pot Method:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Firstly wash and rinse the dal, keep it aside. Press\u00a0SAUTE\u00a0mode on Instant Pot. Add oil and once it&#8217;s hot add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.Add asafetida, minced ginger-garlic, chopped green chili, curry leaves, and saute for 15 secs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then add chopped onion. Saute till onions turn light brown in color.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add tomatoes and cook till tomatoes turn soft, takes 2-3 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, rinsed lentils or dal, salt, water and give a stir. Adjust spices at this stage. No need to soak the dal for this recipe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close the lid securely, and turn the vent to &#8220;SEALING&#8221;. Select the\u00a0PRESSURE COOK\/MANUAL (High Pressure)\u00a0setting and set the cooking time to\u00a0<strong>8 minutes<\/strong>. When the instant pot beeps, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then release any remaining pressure before removing the lid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Garnish with coriander leaves. Also, adjust the consistency of the dal at this point. If it&#8217;s too dry, turn on SAUTE mode, add some water and boil for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dal Tadka is ready ,add extra tempering (tadka)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and serve hot with boiled rice, quinoa or roti.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stovetop Pot Method:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pressure cook the dal adding 3 cups of water for 3-4 whistles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heat oil or ghee in a Kadai and add the cumin and let them splutter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then add asafetida, minced ginger-garlic, chopped green chili, curry leaves, and saute for 15 secs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, add the onions and saute till the onions turn light brown in color.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add tomatoes and cook till tomatoes turn soft, takes 2-3 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add all the spice powders \u2013 turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, or garam masala powder and fry for a minute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now add the cooked and mashed dal, stir well. Add water to adjust consistency and salt to taste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boil dal for 2-3 minutes on a medium-low flame.
