{"id":1693,"date":"2023-08-16T11:38:23","date_gmt":"2023-08-16T11:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/?p=1693"},"modified":"2023-08-16T11:38:24","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T11:38:24","slug":"green-moong-dal-mung-beans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/16\/green-moong-dal-mung-beans\/11\/38\/1693\/23\/appdev2098\/countries-dinner-ideas\/indian-dinner\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Moong Dal \/ Mung Beans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Whole Green Moong Dal is a simple high protein, delicious curry made with green lentils and spices in an Instant Pot or a stovetop pressure cooker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Measuring cup used\u00a01 cup = 250 ml<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00be\u00a0cup\u00a0dry Green gram\/dry whole green mung lentil\/moong dal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0cumin seeds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;large&nbsp;onion&nbsp;chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2&nbsp;medium&nbsp;tomato&nbsp;chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0ginger-garlic paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3&nbsp;green chilies&nbsp;split in half<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0salt\u00a0adjust to taste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-2.5&nbsp;cups&nbsp;water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0coconut oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>coriander leaves&nbsp;for garnish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>juice of \u00bd lemon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spices<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0turmeric powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0cayenne or red chili powder\u00a0(adjust to your preference)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0coriander powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0garam masala\/curry powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instant Pot Method:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Firstly, wash and soak moong dal overnight (or about 6-7 hours).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press Saute on Instant Pot. Add oil and once it&#8217;s hot add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add ginger-garlic paste, saute till the ginger-garlic turns golden brown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next add onions, green chili and allow to saute for 2-3 minutes until translucent &#8211; stir regularly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then add tomatoes, dry spices like turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and cook for 1-2 minutes, till tomato turns soft.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now add soaked moong dal, water, and salt give a stir.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close the lid on the pot. Set the pot to manual (High Pressure) and set the timer to 3 minutes (for firmer moong beans) or 5 minutes(for softer, broken up moong beans).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the pot beeps, manually do a quick pressure release (QR).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lastly, remove the lid away from you, add cilantro and lemon juice. Also, adjust the consistency of the dal at this point.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whole green moong dal is ready and serve hot with any flatbread, boiled rice, roti, quinoa or eat as a soup.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stovetop Pressure Cooker:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Follow the same steps as above. Just cook the green lentils on a stovetop pressure cooker for 2 whistles on high heat, then set the heat to medium-low and cook for another 5-8 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stovetop Pot\/Pan Method:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use a thick bottomed deep pot or pan. Follow the same steps as above. Add the soaked green moong dal, 3-3.5 cups of water.
