{"id":2019,"date":"2023-08-26T13:05:32","date_gmt":"2023-08-26T13:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/?p=2019"},"modified":"2023-08-26T13:05:33","modified_gmt":"2023-08-26T13:05:33","slug":"portuguese-sandwich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/26\/portuguese-sandwich\/13\/05\/2019\/32\/appdev2098\/easy-breakfast\/portuguese\/","title":{"rendered":"PORTUGUESE SANDWICH"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A vegan Portuguese breakfast sandwich inspired by the chouri\u00e7o omelettes I had in my childhood and served on a Portuguese sweet muffin!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FOR THE SUN-DRIED TOMATO \u201cCHOURI\u00c7O\u201d:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>45g&nbsp;sun-dried tomatoes (dry-packed preferred but can use oil-packed)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tsp&nbsp;liquid smoke<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tsp&nbsp;smoked paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tbsp&nbsp;tamari (or soy sauce)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FOR THE \u201cOMELETTE\u201d:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1&nbsp;cup&nbsp;chickpea flour (gram flour)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 tbsp&nbsp;nutritional yeast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp&nbsp;garlic powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc tsp&nbsp;black salt (for the \u201ceggy\u201d smell, can omit if you don\u2019t have it on hand)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tsp&nbsp;smoked paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u215b tsp&nbsp;sea salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;cup&nbsp;water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2153&nbsp;cup&nbsp;soy milk (or plant milk of choice)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u215b&nbsp;cup&nbsp;green onion to garnish (or fresh herb of choice)*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ALL THE REST:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3\u00a0bolos levedos, Portuguese sweet muffins (or bread of choice)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tomato (sliced)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0avocado (sliced)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>White vinegar as desired<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Garnish with sprouts or add spinach leaves as desired<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">INSTRUCTIONS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First, prepare the sun-dried tomato \u201cchouri\u00e7o\u201d by flattening the tomatoes if they have been dry-packed and are curled up . Slice any larger pieces in half. Place the pieces in a shallow dish, mix with the seasonings, and set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add all the omelette ingredients to a large bowl and mix well until combined (uncooked chickpea flour is not very tasty\u2026 I\u2019d avoid taste testing the batter!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heat a skillet over medium low heat and brush with a bit of butter or olive oil. Pour a third of the omelette mixture into the skillet and tilt the pan so the mixture covers the bottom evenly. Quickly, sprinkle green onion or herbs of choice into the omelette mixture and place about 6 pieces of the seasoned sun-dried tomato \u201cchouri\u00e7o\u201d (you want to add the pieces while the mixture is still liquid to ensure that they will stick into the omelette.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allow to cook for 3-5 minutes on each side. When the omelette looks dry all the way through and pulls away from the sides of the pan you should be able to easily slide a spatula under the omelette and flip it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To build the breakfast sandwich, toast the bolos and butter them if desired. Fold the omelette in half and then in half again and sprinkle with white vinegar. Top with sliced tomato, avocado, and any additional garnishes like fresh sprouts.
