We make this Biscuits and Gravy without Sausage recipe probably twice a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Homemade Biscuits<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 cups&nbsp;White Lily&#8217;s Self-Rising flour | sub all-purpose flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Tablespoon&nbsp;baking powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon&nbsp;salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 cup&nbsp;unsalted butter | keep as cold as possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3\/4&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;1&nbsp;cup whole fat buttermilk | sub low fat buttermilk or whole milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Black Pepper Gravy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>4 Tablespoons&nbsp;unsalted butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 Tablespoons&nbsp;all purpose flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon&nbsp;pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon&nbsp;salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 cups\u00a0whole milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">instructions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Biscuits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heat oven to 450 degrees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt for the biscuits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cut the stick of cold butter into cubes. Using a\u00a0pastry blender\u00a0or your hands cut or mush the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles gravel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pour in 3\/4 cup of buttermilk and stir until a dough starts to form. Add an additional 1\/4 cup of buttermilk if the mixture is too dry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dump the dough onto a heavily floured surface and knead it slightly until it holds together. (Feel free to sprinkle on more flour if it is too sticky).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flatten the dough into a 1\/2 inch thick disc, cut out your biscuits and place them onto a lined\u00a0baking sheet\u00a0with the edges touching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake for 12-15 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Black Pepper Gravy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Melt the butter over medium-high heat in a medium sized pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the flour, black pepper, and salt and stir into the butter until the flour is totally absorbed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stirring constantly to prevent lumpy gravy, pour in 1 cup of milk to the pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pour in the additional 3 cups of milk and bring everything to a simmer stirring constantly (takes about 5 minutes).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn the heat to medium low and simmer the gravy (stirring occasionally so the bottom doesn&#8217;t burn) for about 15 minutes until it thickens and the desired consistency is achieved.?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In search for an amazing homemade biscuits and gravy recipe?
