You can easily substitute ingredients and customize it to your preference. This bibimbap is made extra easy with ground beef. No marinating need and it still tastes just as good! Try it with our our\u00a0<u>fresh kimchi (geotjeori)<\/u><em>!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the bibimbap sauce:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0cup\u00a0gochujang\u00a0(Korean red chili paste)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0tablespoons\u00a0honey\u00a0or sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0garlic\u00a0minced (about 1 clove)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0toasted sesame oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the bean sprouts:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8\u00a0ounces\u00a0mung bean sprouts\u00a0or soy bean sprouts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0toasted sesame oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the spinach:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>10\u00a0ounces\u00a0baby spinach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0Tablespoon\u00a0toasted sesame oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the carrots:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\u00a0large\u00a0carrot\u00a0peeled and cut into juliennes\/thin matchsticks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0toasted sesame oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the mushrooms:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8\u00a0ounces\u00a0mushrooms\u00a0sliced (we used shiitake but use your preferred ones)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0toasted sesame oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the ground beef:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\u00a0pound\u00a0ground beef\u00a0(we use 80\/20 ground beef)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0cup\u00a0soy sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0cup\u00a0honey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0garlic\u00a0minced (about 3 cloves)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0toasted sesame oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the remaining part of the rice bowl:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3\u00a0cups\u00a0cooked white rice\u00a0more or less to your preference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3\u00a0large\u00a0eggs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Green onion\u00a0thinly sliced (optional for garnish)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toasted sesame seed\u00a0(optional for garnish)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oil\u00a0as needed for cooking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the bibimbap sauce:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a bowl, mix together the gochujang, honey, minced garlic, and sesame oil until well combined. Set aside until needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the bibimbap toppings:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bring a pot of water to boil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bean sprout:<\/strong>Place the bean sprouts in pot of boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes or until they turn translucent. Use a strainer to fish out the bean sprouts and rinse with cold water until completely cooled. Firmly squeeze the bean sprouts with your hands to remove excess water. Season with salt and sesame oil, then set aside until needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spinach:<\/strong>In the same pot of boiling water, add the spinach and cook for about 30 seconds or until the spinach is wilted and turns bright green. Drain and rinse the spinach with cold water until completely cooled. Firmly squeeze the spinach with your hands to remove excess water. Season with salt and sesame oil, then set aside until needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ground beef:<\/strong>Make the sauce by mixing together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and sesame oil.In a saucepan\/medium pan over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until no longer pink. Drain the fat if necessary. Then, add the prepared sauce and reduce the heat to keep it at a simmer. Let the ground beef simmer for about 5 minutes or until the sauce is a little more than half reduced. Stir occasionally.Set the ground beef aside and keep warm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mushroom:<\/strong>In a pan over medium high heat, add a couple tablespoons of oil. Once hot, add the mushrooms and season with salt. Saut\u00e9 until the mushrooms are cooked. Finish with the sesame oil. Remove from the pan and set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Carrot:<\/strong>In the same pan over medium high heat, add a couple tablespoons of oil. Once hot, add the carrots and season with salt. Cook until just tender and finish with the sesame oil. Remove from the pan and set aside until needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fry the egg(s):<\/strong>Using the same pan, add some oil and heat it on medium high heat until the oil just starts to smoke. Add the egg(s) and fry until the egg whites are set. Remove from the pan.*<em>If needed, wipe the pan with paper towel to get rid of any bits of vegetables leftover. Fry as many eggs as the number of servings you&#8217;re making. Fried eggs are best served immediately.
