Look no further, this Filipino dish is the perfect combination of sweet and savory, and even little spicy. Serve this as an appetizer, or eat it with a bowl of rice, or even alongside your favorite beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1&nbsp;block \u2013 firm tofu, pressed and cubed, see notes on how to press tofu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vegetable oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons&nbsp;\u2013 vegan butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3&nbsp;cloves of garlic, minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd&nbsp;medium onion, diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;small red bell pepper \u2013 finely diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;small green bell pepper \u2013 finely diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;green finger chili pepper (siling haba)* \u2013 thinly sliced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u20132&nbsp;red Thai chili peppers (siling labuyo)* \u2013 thinly sliced (adjust to your heat preference)<br>*Please use food safe gloves whenever you handle chili peppers!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sauce:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bc cup&nbsp;\u2013 vegan mayonnaise<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon&nbsp;\u2013 sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoon\u00a0\u2013 vegan oyster sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon\u00a0\u2013 vegan Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoon&nbsp;\u2013 soy sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon&nbsp;\u2013 onion powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Equipment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tofu Press<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharp Knife<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cutting board<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Small mixing bowl<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measuring cups &amp; spoons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medium pot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Large skillet (for cooking)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sizzling plate (for plating and presentation)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">INSTRUCTIONS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare the sauce ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Set aside until ready to use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill a deep pot with enough oil to cover the tofu. Place it over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot (around 350\u00ad\u00b0F), working in batches, deep fry the tofu until it turns light brown. Around 3-5 minutes per batch. Carefully remove the tofu from the pot and place over a plate lined with a tea towel to drain the excess oil. Set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heat vegan butter in a large skillet or cast-iron skillet over medium heat.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saut\u00e9 the garlic and onions until aromatic and softened.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add in the red and green peppers and saut\u00e9 until tender.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, add in the sauce and chili peppers and allow it to simmer for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toss in the fried tofu and mix until well combined. If using a cast-iron skillet, carefully serve while hot and sizzling.
