{"id":7217,"date":"2023-11-27T12:44:39","date_gmt":"2023-11-27T12:44:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/?p=7217"},"modified":"2023-11-27T12:44:39","modified_gmt":"2023-11-27T12:44:39","slug":"vegan-filipino-chicken-afritada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/27\/vegan-filipino-chicken-afritada\/12\/44\/7217\/39\/appdev2098\/filipino-recipes-two\/afritada\/","title":{"rendered":"vegan filipino chicken afritada"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0bag (4 oz.) soy curls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon\u00a0better than bouillon vegan chicken broth paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 \u2153 cups&nbsp;water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tablespoon&nbsp;avocado oil (or cooking oil of choice)* (see notes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3&nbsp;dried bay leaves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd&nbsp;large onion, finely diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5&nbsp;cloves garlic, minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;medium bell peppers, diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2&nbsp;vegan hot dogs (we used Field Roast Frankfurters)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3&nbsp;small red potatoes, medium diced* (see notes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2&nbsp;small carrots, medium diced* (see notes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1&nbsp;(15 oz.) cans tomato sauce (we used Trader Joe\u2019s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 oz. frozen peas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons&nbsp;finely chopped cilantro (optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt and black pepper, to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Optional add-ins:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 tablespoon&nbsp;tomato paste (to deepen the flavor)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon\u00a0poultry seasoning (for additional chicken flavor)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">instructions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare the soy curls. Mix the vegan chicken broth paste into a small pot with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Add the soy curls into the pot and use a spoon to mix and make sure that every piece is covered with water. Set aside and allow the soy curls to rehydrate for 10 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the meantime, set a large pot over medium heat and add in the oil. Once heated, add in the bay leaves and cook for 1 minute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add in the onions and garlic, and continue cooking until the garlic is fragrant the onions are translucent, about 3 minutes. Add in the bell peppers and vegan hot dogs, and cook for 3 minutes more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, add in the carrots and potatoes. Mix until well combined an allow this to cook for 4 minutes, mixing often. The carrots and potatoes should be slightly softened but not cooked through.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the tomato sauce, peas, and the soy curls with the broth. Mix until everything is combined.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the remaining \u2153 cup of water into the tomato sauce can, swirl it around to get any remaining sauce and pour that all into the pot.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover, and simmer on medium low until the carrots and tomatoes are cooked through, about 10-15 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add in the cilantro and season with salt and pepper to taste. We added a lot of black pepper as it is one of our favorite spices!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove from heat and cool before serving. You can remove the bay leaves or just eat around them.
