{"id":872,"date":"2023-08-11T07:09:44","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T07:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/?p=872"},"modified":"2023-08-11T07:09:44","modified_gmt":"2023-08-11T07:09:44","slug":"crock-pot-smothered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saad.appscodestudio.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/11\/crock-pot-smothered\/07\/09\/872\/44\/appdev2098\/comfort-dinner-ideas\/cold-weather\/","title":{"rendered":"Crock Pot Smothered"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>4\u00a0slices\u00a0bacon\u00a0cut into \u00bd-inch slices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0cups\u00a0low-sodium chicken broth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0soy sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0Worcestershire Sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0bay leaves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00bd\u00a0tablespoons\u00a0brown sugar\u00a0divided<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6\u00a0bone-in\u00a0blade-cut, 1-inch thick pork chops about 8-ounces each.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use pork steaks if blade-cut pork chops aren\u2019t available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3\u00a0yellow onions\u00a0halved and sliced into \u00bd-inch half-moons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc\u00a0cup\u00a0water plus 2 tablespoons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0kosher salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3\u00a0cloves\u00a0garlic\u00a0minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0teaspoons\u00a0minced fresh thyme leaves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00a0tablespoons\u00a0cider vinegar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon\u00a0chopped fresh parsley leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recommended Equipment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Crockpot (click for my favorite)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spray a slow-cooker with nonstick cooking spray and set temperature to LOW.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place bacon in a medium-size, cold skillet set over medium heat. Cook the bacon just until it starts to crisp. Transfer bacon, leaving fat in the pan, to a paper towel-lined plate; set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While bacon cooks, add chicken broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, bay leaves and 1-tablespoon brown sugar to the slow-cooker insert and cover with the lid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pat pork chops dry with a paper towel and season with salt &amp; pepper. After the bacon has cooked, place 3 chops in the same saucepan and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer the chops to the slow-cooker and repeat the process with the remaining 3 pork chops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add onions, 1\u00bd teaspoons brown sugar, \u00bc cup water, 1-teaspoon salt and \u00bd teaspoon black pepper to the skillet. Scrape any browned bits off the bottom of the pan and cook (stirring often), over medium heat, until onions soften, about 6 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add garlic and thyme and cook an additional 30 seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pour the onion mixture over the pork-chops in the slow-cooker.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover the slow-cooker and cook, on LOW, until the chops\/pork steaks are very tender, about 6-8 hours (or on HIGH 3-4 hours).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When ready to serve, transfer chops to a serving dish and cover loosely with foil. Let the chops rest 5 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discard bay leaves from the sauce and use a large spoon the skim the fat from the surface of the sauce.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the vinegar and parsley, season with salt and pepper and stir well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spoon 1 cup of sauce over the chops and sprinkle with the bacon.
